Vicente Franco's work on documentaries, drama, and news has been winning awards for three decades. He was nominated for an Oscar and an Emmy for Daughter from Danang (2002), which won the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize. He won the Silver Apple/Latin American Studies Association for Cuba Va: the Challenge of the Next Generation, and a Peabody for his coverage of the 1985 Mexico City earthquake.
